In last years there has been a rapid increase in Artificial Intelligence applications and services due to the rapid growth of mobile computing and discoveries in Deep Learning. However, this dichotomy has led to the existence of many mobile and IoT devices exchanging billions of bytes with the Cloud. The downside is that connectivity or network issues can result in downtime or significant slowdown of the service. Edge AI solves these issues enabling the deployment of machine learning algorithms to the edge device where the data is generated by making AI processes an integral part of edge computing devices. This talk illustrates the main advantages arising from the "Edge Computing" approach together with the ST vision in the development of Smart Sensors and AI applications on the Edge.
